Before you can issue any Shares or Units in an entity within Athennian, you need to create a class of securities.

Add a Share or Unit Class

To add a Share or Unit Class, you’ll start in the main Entities tab and navigate to your desired Entity

Once you’re inside of the Entity Record, navigate to the Constitution tab and select Share Class. Note that if your entity is an LLC or Partnership Entity Type, your Share Classes tab will actually be called Unit Classes.

If you are working in a brand new entity or have simply not created any classes of securities yet, your Share Classes tab will be empty—it will simply say No classes to manage. To create one, click on the + New

In the Share Class workflow, you’ll want to name your share class, set the Authorized amount, as well as the appropriate Vote Per Share amount.

In the Settings window you’ll also have to add the Certificate Code. You can add any type of certificate coding pattern, adding the asterisks (*) with numbers to help auto-number your certificates.

Once you have all the basic information entered for a share class hit Create at the bottom right-hand corner of the box.

Once you have a confirmed Share Class, you can now head to the Transactions tab where you will have shares that are ready to be issued.

Now that you have a Share Class, it’s time to issue shares.
