Types of Reports

The type of Report selected at the top will determine the type of data that is available to pull into Filters or Results. So the appropriate type of Report must be selected to get the desired results.

As robust as Reports are, not all of the data stored in Athennian is currently available to extract through Reports. Specifically, Reports cannot access data stored in:

  • Governance
  • Securities
  • Documents
  • Minute Book
  • People Records (unless they are Affiliated to an Entity record)

Note: In regards to Securities, the large volume of data stored here can overwhelm the Reports feature and impact functionality.  As a result, extracting Securities data must be completed one Entity at a time. This is why Athennian provides built-in Exports, along with the ability to generate Registers and Ledgers, directly within the Securities section of an Entity.  For more information, check out Overview: Extract Data from Securities.

Using the "All" Report

Since the All Report Type contains the most reportable data, it is tempting to build every Report using the All Type.   However, it is important to note that not all data in All Reports will align perfectly.

Example Scenario: Report with Entity Addresses, as well as the names and roles of all Affiliations.

  • One Entity might have 3 Addresses and 12 Affiliations
  • As such, the results will include 15 rows of data
  • The Entity Addresses cannot appear in the same row as the Affiliations, because the data is looking at different types of connections

Solution: Export the All Report results and then format the data as desired in Excel.

In some cases, adding filters to an All Report Type will remove other desired data.

Example Scenario: Report with Entity Addresses, and the names and roles of only active Affiliations.

  • Add a Filter to indicate Affiliations that are Pending or Confirmed
  • However, with the focus on Affiliations data in the Filters, the Address detail is removed from the results

Solution: To see all required information, create two separate reports in using the Addresses and Affiliations Report Types.  Then Export both Reports and combine them in Excel.
