The Search and Select in Structure Charts feature lets you instantly find, bulk-select, and hide or unhide entities in your charts using a simple search bar, transforming how you navigate and clean up large ownership structures.

This guide walks you through how to use the search bar to efficiently manage your charts.

Use the Search and Select Functionality

You can search for any text that is displayed on your chart, including entity names, regions, company groups, or custom labels. This allows for highly flexible and targeted selections.

  1. Access the Chart
    • Navigate to the Structure Charts section in an Entity
  2. Initiate a Search
    • In the chart, locate the Search bar in the top right corner
    • Type a search term into the bar (e.g., "external", or a specific region or company group)
    • Press Enter or simply pause after typing to automatically highlight all entities that match your search criteria
  3. Bulk Select and Modify
    • Once entities are highlighted, you can perform bulk actions
    • Hide Entities:
      • Right-click on any of the highlighted entities
      • Select the eye icon to hide all selected entities
      • Hidden entities will appear grayed out in the Hidden Nodes Group
    • Unhide Entities:
      • If you've hidden entities and wish to unhide specific ones or groups:
        • Search for the criteria again (e.g., "external")
        • Click on the Unhide button on the right side of the entity result. The entity will automatically reappear on your chart.

Use Cases and Examples

The Search and Select functionality is incredibly versatile and can be applied in various scenarios to streamline your work in Athennian.

  • Focus on Specific Company Groups:
    • If you want to view only entities belonging to a "disregarded" company group for tax mapping, search for "disregarded" and hide all other entities (e.g., "regarded"). This instantly isolates the relevant entities.
  • Isolate Regional Structures:
    • Need to see only entities from a specific region (e.g., "Delaware")? Search for the region and hide all others to focus your view.
  • Manage External Investors:
    • Quickly hide all "external investor" entities to simplify the chart and emphasize internal ownership structures.
  • Transaction Mapping:
    • When mapping a specific transaction, you can hide and unhide entities iteratively to create a highly accurate, clear visual representation of the ownership changes.
