Maintain the precise structure of your ownership charts with our new layout options. Lock your chart's layout to prevent automatic repositioning as you work.
Overview
The Structure Chart feature now includes two distinct layout modes, giving you more control over how your charts are displayed. The Always Optimize Layout mode automatically repositions chart nodes as you expand or collapse them. The Lock Entire Chart mode keeps the format and position of all nodes fixed, preventing the chart from re-rendering as you make changes.
Availability: Customers on the Professional and Enterprise plans.
Use the Default Layout Mode
The default setting, Always Optimize Layout, automatically reconfigures the chart and places nodes in the most efficient way as you work. This is the classic behaviour where the chart dynamically adjusts as you expand and collapse different parts of the structure.
To ensure the default mode is active:
- Navigate to the desired entity's Structure Chart
- Click the Layout Options icon in the left toolbar (located below the Ownership Details icon)
- Confirm that Always Optimize Layout (default) is selected
Lock the Chart Layout
Locking the chart preserves the exact placement of nodes, preventing automatic repositioning when you expand or collapse parts of the structure. This is ideal when you have arranged a complex chart and want to maintain its specific layout.
To lock the chart's layout:
- Navigate to the desired entity's Structure Chart
- Arrange the chart nodes into the preferred positions
- Click the Layout Options icon in the bottom toolbar
- Select Lock Entire Chart from the menu
The chart will now remain in its current format, regardless of any further expansion or collapsing of nodes.
