Customizing connection line entry and exit ports gives corporate teams enhanced flexibility when structuring entity relationship charts. Controlling connection ports allows users to transform wide horizontal charts into structured vertical presentations, ensuring entity hierarchies and subsidiary branches display clearly.
Overview
Chart Port Control allows users to customize the exact entry and exit sides for connection lines on entity shapes. Configuring port positions enables linear and vertical layout alignments for complex ownership structures while maintaining clear visual connections.
Availability: Customers on the Enterprise 2024 plan and Enterprise Charts Add-On
Prepare Chart Layout for Vertical Alignment
Open the target chart within the Charts section
Click Connections to expand line display settings
Toggle off ownership totals to clear percentage boxes between connection lines
Select entity nodes on the canvas to expand required subsidiary branches
Filter out individual person records to display entity shapes exclusively
Click Layout options and select Set Fixed Node Size to standardize shape dimensions across the canvas
Adjust Connection Line Entry and Exit Ports
Right-click the target entity shape on the chart canvas
Select Entry from the context menu and choose the preferred entry side, such as Right or Left
Right-click the entity shape again to configure outgoing connection lines
Select Exit from the context menu and choose the preferred exit direction
Drag the reconfigured entity shapes into the preferred vertical order on the canvas
Repeat port assignments for additional entity shapes or custom geometries, such as triangular partnership nodes
Save Custom Vertical Chart Layout
Click Save Chart View to preserve custom shape positions and port assignments
Enter a descriptive title into the Name field, such as Vertical Chart
Select team sharing preferences to grant access to organizational members
Click Save to store the layout view

Note:
Configure connection line entry and exit ports prior to manually dragging entity shapes into position to prevent dynamic chart recalculations from resetting layout placement
Port control settings apply to all entity shape types, including custom shapes like limited partnership triangles
