Structure Charts: Customize and Apply Fixed Shape Node Sizes

Enhance the visual consistency of your organizational diagrams by defining uniform dimensions for all entity nodes.

Overview

Standardizing the size of shapes within a Structure Chart ensures a professional, harmonious layout suitable for external submissions and regulatory filings. By setting a fixed width and height, manual adjustments are eliminated, allowing for rapid iteration of complex charts.

Availability: Customers on the Professional and Enterprise plans.


Access Layout Options

  • Select a specific Entity and open the Structure Charts tab

  • Locate the Layout Options icon on the left-side toolbar panel


Set Fixed Node Sizes

  • Toggle the Fixed node size switch to the On position

  • Enter the preferred numerical value in the Width (px) field

  • Enter the preferred numerical value in the Height (px) field

  • Select Apply to update all shapes—including squares, circles, and triangles—to the defined dimensions

  • Adjust the values as needed to ensure Entity names fit appropriately within the borders


Expand Charts with Uniform Scaling

  • Select the Plus (+) icon on an Entity node to expand the chart

  • Observe that all newly revealed Entities automatically honour the previously defined Width and Height

  • Right-click on Connection Lines to tweak the layout while maintaining the fixed shape sizes


Save Chart Views

  • Click the Save button in the top navigation bar

  • Enter a descriptive name for the layout

  • Select the option to save the view for the Team or for the User

  • Click Confirm to lock the visual preferences for future reference
