Ensure compliance and maintain security by monitoring specific user activity and permission changes within the system. The Audit Trail in Access records activity related to Access Management, making actions traceable and verifiable for troubleshooting and auditing.

Overview

The Audit Trail captures which users were granted access, who removed access, and when these changes occurred. Entries are logged automatically and cannot be modified.

This section records:

  • Access Group changes

  • User creation or offboarding

  • User Group creation or archiving

  • Granting or revoking Access permissions

The main Access Audit Trail is located in the Access > Audit Trail section of Athennian. Additionally, specific logs are available within each access sub-section (Users and User Groups, Access Groups, Exclusion Groups, and API Keys).

Availability: Office-Admins and Administrators.

Note: For Enterprise customers, a Global Audit Trail is also accessible in the Settings section: View and Export the Global Audit Trail (Administrators Only).


Filter Access Audit Trail Data

The Audit Trail allows for filtering to isolate specific historical edits and changes made to Users, User Groups, Access Groups, and Exclusion Groups.

  1. Navigate to the Access section

  2. Select the Audit Trail tab

  3. Click the Filter dropdown in the top-right corner

  4. Select the desired filters:

    • Action Taker

    • Date Range

    • User

    • Access Group

  5. Click Apply

  6. (Optional) Click + Save Filter to save the configuration for future use


Search Access Audit Trail Data

Locate specific log entries using the search functionality to view detailed descriptions of system activity.

  1. Navigate to the Access section

  2. Select the Audit Trail tab

  3. Enter keywords into the Search bar on the right-hand side

  4. Review results displayed on the page

  5. Click on a result to open a modal displaying the full audit description
