Track Custom Entity Subtypes

Athennian's new Custom Entity Subtype feature allows you to accurately track entity types not included in the standard dropdown options. This functionality is integrated throughout the application, ensuring consistency and accessibility for your team.

Add a Custom Entity Subtype

To add a custom entity subtype:

  1. Navigate to the Entity you wish to update
  2. In the General > Details section, scroll down to the Entity SubType field
  3. From the dropdown menu, select Other
  4. Once Other is selected, the Custom Entity SubType field will become active and available for you to select from its dropdown
  5. To add more values, click on the Manage Custom SubTypes
  6. In the Edit Custom Entity SubType window, click on + Add option to enter a new value
  7. Enter the name of your custom entity subtype (e.g., "Pty Ltd")
  8. Click Save

The new custom subtype will now be available in the dropdown list for the Custom Entity SubType field.

Where Custom Entity SubTypes Appear

The Custom Entity Subtype information is accessible across Athennian in the following areas:

  • Entity Overview: The custom entity subtype will be displayed front and center in the Overview section of the entity, providing immediate visibility to your team.
  • Reports: When generating Custom Reports, you can include the Custom Subtype as a filter and a column and in the Entity Details section. This allows you to filter and view entities based on your custom types.
  • Structure Charts: In the new Structure Charts, you can use the Edit Entity Details functionality to toggle on the display of Custom Entity Subtype to visualize these types directly on your charts. You can also filter the chart by specific custom subtypes to focus on relevant entity nodes, by selecting from the Custom Entity Subtype filter dropdown.
  • API: The custom entity subtype is extended to the Athennian API, allowing for programmatic access and integration.
  • Templates (DXT Code): When generating documents like corporate summaries using DXT code, the custom entity subtype will automatically populate the relevant fields, ensuring accurate document generation.
