Athennian introduces the ability to separate any registration type name from the entity name. Giving teams the flexibility to remove a registration name from being impacted by an admin-level entity name change.
Overview
Athennian allows users to manage custom and standard registration types more efficiently during entity name changes. While administrative name changes typically update all associated registrations globally, certain workflows require a registration name to remain static. By utilizing the new checkbox functionality, teams can prevent administrative entity name changes from impacting specific registrations, ensuring they remain consistent for legal and workflow requirements.

Separation of Registration and Entity Names
This feature introduces the ability to decouple a registration name from the primary entity name. By using the Default Name checkbox, teams can prevent a registration name from being affected by administrative-level entity name changes.
When the Default Name checkbox is selected for specific registration types—including Business Names, Trademarks, Translations, Assumed Names, Licenses, Property/Land and Other,—the registration no longer inherits the entity name. Instead, users can choose to set a custom, standalone name. This custom name overrides the administrative edit for the entity name change, meaning if the entity name is updated (e.g., from Ali Electronics to ABC Corp), the registration will honour the custom name as required from a workflow and legal standpoint.
This functionality ensures that registration records remain consistent and separate from the entity name if that process is in place. If the Default Name checkbox is deselected, the registration will revert to inheriting the current entity name.
Manage Registration Name Independence
Use this functionality to create a standalone name for registrations that should not be automatically updated by administrative entity name edits.
Navigate to the General > Registrations section of an entity
Select an existing registration or click to create a new one, such as a Business Name, Trademark, Translation, Assumed Name, License, Property/Land or Other
Locate the Default Name checkbox below the Name field within the registration modal
Select the Default Name checkbox to stop the registration from inheriting the primary entity name
Enter a custom Name in the field provided to create a standalone registration name
Click Save to finalize the settings
Observe that subsequent name changes made via an Admin Edit at the entity level will no longer override or impact this specific registration
Important Notes
This functionality is system-wide and applies to all registration types that are not Extra-Provincial (EP) or Foreign Qualification (FQ), as those types already utilize the Assumed Name checkbox for the same logic
The Default Name fields operate to override name changes that happen at the Admin Edit level to ensure registrations stay consistent regardless of entity-level updates
