Add a Principal when completing entity-related workflows such as Formation, Notice of Change, or Initial Return.

Overview

Adding a first director and incorporator is required for certain workflows that involve entity setup or updates. This process ensures that the necessary principals are properly linked to the entity and their details recorded in Athennian.

Availability: All customers.


Add a Principal

  1. Navigate to the Principals section located on the left panel of the entity profile

  2. Click + New in the top right corner of the page to open the Principal modal


Add Principal Information

  1. In the Details section, select whether the principal is an Entity or Person by selecting + Add Profile

    • Note: Depending on which you choose, a modal will give you the option to select a Person or Entity  profile by using the search bar or create 

  2. If the profile does not exist, and depending on your needs, click for a new Person (+Add Person)or Entity (+ New) option located in the top right corner

  3. Enter all required information and add Notes if necessary to finish the Principal section


Add Addresses

  1. Click + Address to add an address

  2. If an address is already associated with the profile, select it and click Apply in the bottom right corner

  3. To add a new address, click + New and follow the steps in Create a Profile Address 


Add Roles

  1. Click + Add Role to open the Add Role modal

  2. Select the appropriate Role from the dropdown menu 

    • Director

    • General Partner

    • Incorporator

    • Manager

    • Member

    • Officer

    • Other

    • Partner

    • Signatory

    • Trustee

    • Ultimate Beneficial Owner

      • Note

      • If selecting Director or Officer you need to select a specific Title

      • You can select a Custom Title for any of them

  3. To add multiple roles, click + Role

  4. Add the Effective Date and End Date using the calendar picker

    • Dates must follow the format YYYY-MM-DD

    • Leave the End Date field blank if the principal is still active

  5. Add Notes if necessary

  6. Click Create

  7. To add multiple roles, click + Role again

Note: If multiple roles apply, each can be added and tracked separately in the same modal


Link Documents

  1. In the Documents section, click + Add Documents

  2. Select documents to link from the modal

  3. Click Link to Affiliation to complete the upload


Create Principal

Once all details are confirmed, click Create at the bottom right corner of the modal. 

A new principal is now added to the entity profile in a Confirmed status. The status can be changed to Pending or Inactive by opening its modal and selecting the Status dropdown at the top right corner.
